Is it dangerous to wear Sons of Anarchy patches on a real leather vest or Sons of Anarchy patches for costume?

My little brother wants to be Jax from Sons of Anarchy for Halloween and I was looking into getting him a costume and found all of these people saying that real bikers will beat you up if you wear one. Is it the wearing of a real club's patches that is dangerous or is it wearing anything that looks like it could be biker related that would be dangerous? I mean, is it safe to wear Sons of Anarchy patches on a leather vest as a costume? I guess I don't understand how bikers might find it offensive if someone wore fictional patches; I get it if they don't want people wearing imitation patches (those of a real club), but to be offended by someone wearing the fictional ones doesn't make sense to me. Could a real biker please explain this to me? Would you really beat up and/or threaten someone wearing a Sons of Anarchy vest? Why?

Most bikers would think it's funny wearing a fake bike clubs patches. It's more likely that he would be singled out by cops rather than by bikers. As you say, it's when people wear real clubs patches that problems happen. It also depends on where he wears them, if he went to a biker bar he could face problems but if it's just for a halloween party or trick or treating then I doubt there'd be any problem.

A grownup who entered a biker bar or walked thru Daytona during Bike Week might get some grief wearing them, but I doubt a trick-or-treater would even if he went in a biker bar (but I doubt he'd get much candy there.)
