What should I bring to college?

What should theater majors bring with them to college?

• I will be a college freshman in the fall studying theater. As a theater major, what should I bring along with my other dorm room stuff. I was thinking tights, makeup, character shoes, and jazz shoes. I want to bring all the essentials plus anything other random little thing that might help me during performances and classes (safety pins, hairspray, etc.). Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

  Make sure to bring Yoga clothes and a yoga mat too. A lot of movement classes require clothes you can move in and possibly a yoga mat. Other than that, just things to make you feel better after a long day. Favorite stuffed animal, favorite flavor of tea, a large amount of your favorite snack food. You will work late and long hours so being able to come back to your room, have a hot beverage and a quick snack while doing homework before hitting the hay is always helpful. There were many days I lived off of cheez-its in college. As far as makeup and hair spray, I wouldn't worry too much. You'll have to take stage makeup at some point and you'll likely have to buy a kit that the instructor picked out and your hair for many shows will be designed and possibly done by a makeup crew. That's all I can really thing of that's not normal things, just be prepared for long hours.
