A specific piece of the Civil Rights movement, the Civil Rights Act of 1964, did many things to change lives of those who were of color or just a woman. It ended things like segregation in American schools and unequal voting rights. The moon landing was pretty much a space race. Kennedy wanted to get there before the Soviet Union did and when Apollo 11 reached the moon first it opened up everyone's eyes on how big of a deal this "space thing" actually was, because before people thought it would only be science fiction.
