I'm currently a Physical Training Leader in the Air Force and was offered a D-1 Scholarship to LeHigh U out of High School for Football and Track. I would recommend doing sprints after your distance workouts. Maybe run at a max 10 100m sprints. Another good one is after you finish your regular workout, find a comfortable 400m time for you and run a 400m around that time, walk 200m to rest, then repeat after doing 4 400m laps. The best thing to do for football training is squats and bench press as well, so before your workout, 5 sets of 25 standing squats and after, 5 sets of 25 push ups. after every 2 weeks, run a timed 100m, 400m, and 40yd dash and adjust accordingly. (shorten your 400m lap times as your time decreases.)

Yes, running long distances in track will help you with playing football. It will greatly improve your speed, stamina, and endurance, as well as your chances of becoming a successful, top notch football player.

Yeah, it helps with endurance, but I would also recommend throwing because it requires weightlifting, you will want to bulk up before the fall football season.

Darren

it helps with stamina
