What kind of dirt bike should i get?

  • I'm a beginner, never rode a dirt bike and I want a nice bike that I won't out grow or out learn fast. I'm a fast learner and I don't want to buy it, and have to move a level up within the next, how ever long it takes me to get there. Suggestions? Don't be a dick please.... thanks:)

You didn't list your height or weight. If you are between 4'10" and 5'4" I would buy a Honda CRF150F. This is not the race bike, so it is suited more for a beginner rider. It's a good bike to learn how to use the clutch, and doesn't have much power so it's great. If you are anything taller than that and weigh under 200 lbs, I suggest you get a CRF250X. It has less power than it's MX brother, the CRF250R. It's suited for trails, it has a wide ratio transmission, electric start, and a bunch of other things.

From your avatar I'm assuming you are female, most dirt-bike are on the taller side seat-wise, so you're going to need to throw a leg over a few to see how you fit. If you can't plant at least one foot flat, while tip-toeing the other foot, find a smaller bike to learn on. Buy a used bike to start out, learn the basics, keep the bike in good running order, sell the bike for what it's worth and tell yourself, 'That's Cool!' and off you go.
