How to step frames in a movie recorded by iPhone?

How do I add a static image to all frames of a video using GAP?

  • Hello everybody! I want to add a logo image to a video, and Windows Movie Maker doesn't seem to have the functionality, so I refrain to using GIMP GAP. After doing a Google search, I decided that using the Video/Move Path function should do the job. I split the video into frames in one folder, and since the plugin didn't recognize the single logo image as an eligible source, I created 100 identical logo frames in another folder. I opened one of the video frames, and from the menu opened Video/Move Path. I had the first logo frame opened in another window, and from the plugin drop-down menu chose it as the source. I chose normal mode, step mode: loop, lower right corner (that's where I wanted the logo to appear), offset 0,0, speed factor 1.0, layerstack 0. I chose a small frame range to generate a preview for. For the preview I chose: - Exact object on frames - Scale: 100% - Framerate: 100% Copy to video buffer: no. Problem: On the generated preview, the logo appears ONLY on the first frame :( Did I do anything wrong, or is this a bug? I don't insist on doing this with GAP, I would gladly do it with WMM if I knew how. Any ideas? Thank you!

  • Answer:

You can add a logo with the Vista version of Movie Maker. What version of Movie Maker do you have? You can also add a video or image overlay using the free version of Microsoft's Expression Encoder. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_EsMGuwEorc Please scroll down and read the system requirements before installing Expression Encoder 4. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=27870

To be honest you'd be better doing this in an actual a video editor. GAP is useful for grabbing frames and for making short animations, but it's still not a video editor in any way shape or form. If you save the image from GIMP as a PNG with transparent background you should be able to add it to a video using proper video editing software. I've done this sort of thing with Magix Movie Edit Pro - but similar consumer video editors like Adobe Premier Elements should be able to cope with the same sort of stuff. I think this may be a little too advanced for windows movie maker.
