Which Acoustic Guitar Should I buy as my FIRST guitar?
-
I'm going to learn how to play the guitar soon and I want to know which acoustic guitar I should buy. I don't care about cost, but I don't want to over spend either. I AM A SMALL GUY. I'm 5'2, 110lbs.. I got small hands. I might have to go to a music shop and have them pick me out a guitar.

Answer:
Try out a Yamaha FG700S. Great first acoustic guitar for under $200. Has a solid Sitka spruce top and plays really nicely. I teach and a lot of my students have that guitar. I've played them and they are great for the price.

The people in the shop can pick a guitar for you but it may not be the right guitar for you. In the music shop, be sure to try a whole variety of guitars then choose the one that best fits what you want from the guitar. You said you don't care about cost but try to get a guitar from at least higher than £85 (anything below may be crappy, but not necessarily in some cases). You say your small so you could try a 3/4 guitar size, but don't be put off by full size guitars, if it doesn't bother you. You'll grow if you're young so you'll manage a full size guitar when you get older and get used to it. Remember to get a guitar that suits your needs and is at a good price. Popular brands such as Yamaha, Fender, Gibson and Epiphone do acoustic guitars but be open minded when it comes to guitar brands, don't be close minded. It's about which guitar is right for you. Popular brands can make crappy guitars; keep that in mind! Do what I said to do above and you should be satisfied with your guitar.

Hi, Your hands really shouldnt be a problem. Picking an acoustic guitar is a personal thing, I dont think you should let anyone pick one out for you. It is a good idea to try different ones even if you dont play now. Listen to how the body projects the sounds, Try to fret a string and see if it feels difficult to you. Since you are not afraid to spend some money, I would suggest a Taylor to start with. The necks are very easy to play and they sound great. And if you play the guitar for ten years and decide to sell it, it will probably be worth more than you paid for it.
