Can I be a computer technician with a degree in Computer Science?

How difficult is majoring in Computer Science?

  • I have some experience working as a network technician, and I have been really interested in learning and listening to the full time engineering and programmers. I would really love to be involved in a programming or networking career. The only problem is that I am going to a really competitive and difficult university and I lack confidence that I will be able to actually create programs and compete with the other students. Is it possible for me to still achieve a degree in computer science?

  • Answer:

You need to be good in math and science. Have you taken the ACT test? Did you score better than a 25 in math and science? That's usually a good guideline. Colleges use it also.

You sound pretty bright to me and you're interested in it so I say go for it! Normally programs start off small and then towards the end of each class you are making some lengthy involved programs but it's nothing you have to try and learn all at once...they go kind of step by step and you'll have to read your books and stuff... so ...it is difficult but I think you can do it... just try it..what's the worst than can happen... you take a class or two figure out you can or can't do it at all and then switch to something else computer-related with less programming like CIS or something.
