Why is my lip piercing so red?
-
Last time summer I got my lip pierced and everything went ok it didnt get infected. But a little while ago I put a slighly thicker bar in and it started to get red around no pus or anything just red, I have since changed back to a smaller bar but its still really red, I dont really want to let the piercing close up is there anything I can put on it so the redness goes away? thank you!

Answer:
Just start cleaning it outside and swilling the inside with sea salt and warm water for the next few weeks it's bound to be sore you've stretched it up it'll be fine in a few weeks :)

the same thing happened to me with my ear piercings, you might be allergic to the bigger bar depending on the material.. if the bigger bar was say made out of metal and the smaller bar was made from silver you may be allergic to the metal cause thats what happened to my ears.. thats the only thing i can think of really
sorry
The thick bar must make your piercing swollen, and even if you put a thin bar in it, your piercing is still red. Well, i think it's just normal. My ears are usually like this. Keep the thin bar in it and several days later it will be fine. If not, use alcohol or hydrogen peroxide to wash it every day before you go to bed. it will work.

No, no, no! NO alcohol or peroxide. None of that stuff works well with piercings, they just cover it and make it even drier than it was before. All piercers will tell you not to use them. Seems to me that you just simply dead stretched it - it's normal for it to be red and to hurt, you just put in a bigger bar than the hole intended! You didn't use any tapers and just stuck it in. Leave it for a few days and be aware of how it is doing during those days. It's just like stretching your ears; it should be fine.
