How can I quit smoking cold turkey?
-
I don't like smoking it's just a bad habit I made as a young teen. yes, I'm 18 and I've been smoking since I was 14. I started smoking full time at the age of 15 when my mother caught me taking her smokes and didn't get up me for it and she learned to live with the fact that I smoked. I've tried to quit 3 times... 2 times cold turkey that didn't last more than a month and on tablets that didn't last more than a month because they made me sick. I feel like part of the reason my ex and I broke up because he was a non smoker and tried everything to encourage me to quit and it just didn't happen. Please no harsh comments, give me tips on how to quit smoking I don't like it I just can't break the habit. I want to be healthy and smell good and look good... and hopefully get a boyfriend ;)

Answer:
You can never fully quit smoking, you'll have the urge to smoke the rest of your life. I guess you could join some sort of rehab, but that's all the advice i can give you @Nancy Bee I never said that no one ever did it, but like the other person said, it's highly addictive, and affects your body severely ---------------------------------------… You will forget your list somewhere. You will arrange to be in a crowd of smokers. You will forget everything, your book, your reasons, your reasoning even. BE ON YOUR TOES. You WILL try to sabotage your quitting. ---------------------------------------… Part of a paragraph from this website: http://www.mnwelldir.org/docs/misc/smoke.htm ---------------------------------------… From another website: http://women.smokefree.gov/qg-staying-sticking.aspx Your brain has learned to crave nicotine. So certain places, people, or events can trigger a strong urge to smoke, even years after quitting. That's why you should never take a puff again, no matter how long it has been since you quit. ---------------------------------------… so don't give me that sh** that you'll live happily ever after and never wanna smoke the rest of your life, before you criticize people, learn medicine Bitc*

That's all I got congrats.
What worked for me was getting rid of my cigs all together and every time I wanted to smoke I would eat little candies like skittles and starbursts and basically talk myself out of smoking. I don't need it, I don't want it, I am strong I can do this and just munching my candies until it passed, but you can't let yourself obsess over smoking! Put it out of your head and tell yourself I am a non smoker, I don't smoke. I did this for about 3 weeks, til I was not noshing the candy all day anymore, sometimes at first, I still felt like I wanted to smoke but I just didn't let myself consider it as an option. I wasn't a smoker anymore and I didn't argue with myself, just kept to it and now I don't even like to be around people who smoke it stinks and it bothers me. You can do it, its all a matter of will power you will only quit when you actually want to and set yourself to the task. It's not easy but its worth it.

its actually quite easy once u cut thru the lies, disinfo and bs comments like 'u will have the urge for the rest of ur life'. Millions and millions of people have quit cold turkey, and if they can do it, so can u. I did it and im so happy being free, i have absolutely no desire to smoke and i dont run away from smokers, it just no longer bothers me. Heres a free online book u can read, it will help u see what im saying. http://www.quitsmokingonline.com/quitsmokingnatural/courseindex.htm Best of luck and health.

Congrats you want to quit smoking! You are right, it is very difficult and nicotine is hugely addictive drug, but you can do it, Since you have tried before, and you know its hard, your motivation is what will help you be successful. Keeping in mind all the reasons to quit can be very powerful....your health, your relationships, your feeling good about yourself....these are all huge reasons!! Trying to replace smoking with other habits (healthy ones) is a good way to go. You can get into routines with smoking. like first thing in the morning with coffee or after meals or driving. Think about these, then things to replace them with. Exercise, gum chewing, writing in a journal, whatever things you can think of that will help you stay strong. You did it for a month before, that's so great! Have a support system to help you!! There are ways like hypnosis that work for some people too. Good luck to you!! Think positive and stay strong. While its not easy, it can be done!
