Which is better of these to subwoofers?

Which of the two subwoofers are better?

  • which of the two subwoofers are better? Cadence S2-Series S2W12-D4 or Kenwood Excelon KFC-XW1224D for a 1200 rms amp at 1ohm

  • Answer:

Both handle 600 watt rms Both are 4 ohm Both have dual coils Kenwood has low ratings on Amazon Cadence has no ratings on Amazon I would go with the kenwood, but I suggest you invest your money in An alpine Type-r, it cost about the same price and it would perform way better than those two put together... You would need dual coil subs to run your amp at 1 ohm if they are at 4ohms, and if your just using one sub you would not need to run it at one ohm, that's more than enough power for those speakers.

They are both factory built so the build quality is about the same. They are 600 watts rms not 1200 however if you were to purchase 2 subwoofers then you'd need a 1200-1500 watt amplifier @ 1 ohm to power the subs as recommended. Either sub would work well as long as you build an enclosure with the best frequency responce. The enlcosure should be your highest concern.

Physically they look about identical. Specs-wise the Kenwood's look like they have more potential, but then by looking at the frequency response it seems the Cadence subs will play a little lower. If the price is similar I'd probably choose the cadence since they aren't a brand you see every day and I think they'd compare favorably against the KW's or the Alps.
