What Is The Best Food To Feed My Carnivorous Plant?

My umbrella plant leaves are just droping like crazy I did feed it some food what should I do ?

  • I feed my umberlla plant some plant food and all of a sudden the leaves start dropping like crazy did I harm it and how can I fix this

  • Answer:

Have you recently moved your plant and changed the light conditions? If you had it inside then moved it out the plant will drop leaves but they will come back. You did not say what type or how much fertilizer you used. If you over used a high nitrogen fertilizer that could also cause the leaves to drop.Read the label directions on the fertilizer package. If you did not apply it properly re-pot your plant in fresh soil then pray. Happy gardening

If you think you overfertilized, take the plant to someplace it can drain freely and water with plain water.....a lot.....to wash out excess nitrogen. Fertilizer is a salt and too much burns the roots. Fortunately most mix and pour fertilizers are in a formula that is easily washed through. It's the slow release that is very difficult to correct. Other causes of leaf drop are: spider mites (commin in umbrella plants), cold air like from an airconditioner, sudden temp changes, over watering, too little sunlight. If too much sunlight the leaves would blanch first or get sunburn spots. Mealy bugs.......but you'd see the fuzzies down where the petiole joins the stem. Scale.....strange bumps on stem or leaf.
