How to sing in head voice?

How to sing more like your ''head voice''?

  • As most singers know... what you hear from yourself isn't reality. ( I don't need a lesson, I already know the science behind it) When I sing, I can hear myself hitting all kinds of pitches and tones, to be honest it almost sounds perfect but, when I finally decided to record, I was in for a rude awakening. I figure that this is probably the biggest issue that those goofy American idol auditions have. I was just wondering if there was a way to train yourself to sound more like your ''head voice''. Or am I stuck to singing in the shower? :P I know there is a singing technique called ''singing from the head''. But I don't think it's the same thing. Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance. :)

I dont know if this answers your question but my choir instructor told me youre only supposed to sing in your head voice if youre doing high notes. most of your singing should be in your chest voice. singing from your diaphragm to get a really powerful sound. you can hear your head voice by starting with a low note and going up in pitch with the sound "woooo" if you know what i mean. when i was little they called it the roller coaster lol.
