Why isn't my VGA cable working?

Why isnt my TV working in VGA mode with my VGA Cable?

  • I have a Dynex DX-32L221A12 32 inch 720p LCD HDTV, and a Toshiba Satellite A505-S6980 Windows 7 Laptop. I have the VGA cable connected to the TV and Laptop. When I push VGA mode, my TV just has a black screen and says No Input. How do I use my tv as my monitor?

  • Answer:

Either the tv/laptop VGA ports are bad, VGA cable is bad, or you're not hooking it up properly.

Other answers

Try turning off the laptop before connecting the VGA cable. Once you've hooked it up, turn the TV on, then turn on the laptop. If that doesn't work, go to the Start Menu -> Control Panel -> Display -> Change Display Settings then click "Detect". If your VGA connection is good, it should fix the problem. If none of this works, you may have a bad port(s) on the TV and/or Laptop or the VGA cable might be faulty. Good Luck!
