Answer:
1. IF the college thing true? --YES. only commissioned officers are AF pilots, and to be an officer, you have to have a degree. Focus on science, math, engineering, HI TECH degrees. 2.IF the college thing is true, then what classes should i take that will for sure make me a pilot. -- focus on TOUGH classes, engineering, math, etc. your GPA is going to have to be high. 3. What can i do at this age to prepare myself? -- go to your high school guidance counselor tomorrow and express interest in the service academy, and how to go about getting an appointment - which is the only way into the academy. NOTE: do NOT waste time in this. there were TWO people in my graduating class that received appointments to the academy - one to the AF, the other to the Navy. both of them started when they were in 8th grade and were straight A students. you will need a high GPA to be competitive. 3.5 and UP. most academy cadets are in the top 15% of their class. 4. what will i be expecting in this? --- not sure i understand. expect to live, breathe, and sleep academics. focus on challenging classes and getting the highest grades possible. 5. and if there's anything that its a must need or need to know basis? ---talk to your counselor, contact your local office of your state's elected senators to the US senate. Each can nominate TWO candidates to the academy in the AF - the vast majority of pilots come from the academy, the rest from ROTC. i suppose it is technically possible for a civlian with a degree to apply, but i've never known one to be selected for pilot training having gone that route

My father was a Navy pilot and my uncle is a helicopter pilot for the Marines. You for sure have to have a BA. Both of theirs are in engineering.

You need a Degree in mathematics to start with.

As I understand it only officers from the US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs CO fly combat planes. The officers that join through OTS only run offices or if they are really lucky and become a pilot they will fly cargo and transport vehicles. Do you have a 4.00 GPA right now? Based on your poor sentence structure I would think not. Have you already joined Jr. ROTC and contacted recruiters to work through the USAFA application process? Have you contacted a local senator to get a letter of recommendation? Did you know that the A-10 will likely be around for only a few more years after you are eligible to fly it? And there will only be a few left as fleets are being disbanded for the more fuel efficient F35 and UAVs? Did you know that the DOD budget is being gutted and there won't be much of an Air Force by the time you could put on 1st. Lt?

Yes, you will have to have a college degree. A combination of math and science courses is best, as are the very best grades possible. There is tremendous competition for the available pilot training slots which means the Air Force can pick and choose the very best candidates. Joining the AFROTC while in college will help. Rather than talking to a recruiter see if there is an AFROTC detachment at a nearby college and go talk to them for more details. An alternate possibility is getting an appointment to the Air Force Academy. Best bet there is to get a recommendation from one of your states US Senators. Top grades in high school and a record of community involvement and service will help in this course of action. Good luck. GB Major, Sqdn Cmdr, USAF, 1960-74
