What do i need to take in college?

I want to become a librarian; what classes do i need to take in college? WHAT SPECIFIC CLASSES DO I NEED?

• i would love to work as a librarian at a school, local library or any related business of that sort. I have wondered if there's a specific course related to library work objectives or if I'm supposed to take a specific number of college courses. please help me. I'd like to hear from people in the field and/or college counseulor types. I would like to get a detailed list of classes i must complete in order to become a librarian. Thank you all before hand.

  You need a Master of Library and Information Science degree accredited by the ALA. The specific courses depend on where you're getting the degree - it isn't the same at every college. You can usually enter an MLS/MLIS degree program with a bachelor's degree in anything at all. Becoming a school librarian requires a specific program and a license from your state. Some of these require that you also have a teaching certificate in some subject. The specific courses for that one depends on the state you're in and the school you're getting the degree from. Some people work in specialized libraries as archivists. That's also a little different since they often manage collections that include rare and fragile documents. http://sils.unc.edu/programs/arm they often get the same librarian degree but specialize additional work in archives.
