How is Blue Ray different from HD DVD?

How to watch HD DVD in my blue ray magnavox player?

  • My Philip magnavox blue ray player is capable of playing regular dvd, but when I put in HD DVD in my player, it doesn't seem to work. It has a label marking that it plays Full HD. Is there a setting that I need to do in order for me to watch HD DVD in my blue ray magnavox player?

  • Answer:

HD DVD and Blu-Ray DVD were two incompatible competing HD formats. Blu-Ray won HD lost. Unless you buy a DVD player especially made to play HD DVD's they wont play. It was like the Betamax vs VHS in the early 1980. VHS won. You can't play a Betamax tape in a VHS machine. You can't play a HD DVD in a Blu-Ray machine.
