Is there a way of going to college for free?

Is there a good way to start as an artist besides going to an art college?

• I want a job in the art field, I have for the past three or four years. Unfortunately, I've never been a good student in school, and I'm not that well endowed economically. This, combined with a couple other factors (debt and so forth), have made me very leery about going to a college any time soon. Nevertheless, I still want to start building a career doing something I love. Does anyone here know a viable alternative for an artist to begin a career without having to go through college? Alternative training, going without training at all? Any suggestions within reason will be accepted with open arms at this point. Thanks.

  Just keep doing your art so you have a nice collection of pieces to show ,the more you have the better it will be for you. Then do what my ex wife did . she went to different restaurants in the area and asked them if she could display her art work in their inside of their restaurants. Most of them said yes and did not charge her for it. As a matter of fact they liked the idea because it drew more people to the restaurant. And she did quite well especially in Italian restaurants because they are really into art.Good luck to you.
