How do it I disconnect an unused security system?

I have a 1990 Nissan Maxima and the security system will not shut off. How do I permanently disconnect it?

  • I have to disconnect the battery every night so that it does not drain the battery, and I have had to pull the fuse on the horn. This is NOT a code lock on the door and there is no remote. I was told I had to go to the Dealership, but there has to be a way to do it myself without paying them hundreds of dollars.

    Some of the 1990 Nissan's used a Code alarm system with key less entry added at the (port of entry) some are located under the drivers seat if you find a box with white paper Label on it and yellow button under the paper Label you can push the yellow button listen for programing tones then program another key less entry fob or just disconnect the box (unplug it) There are not many old timer technicians left at dealerships who will remember those 22 year old systems. I take offence at the other answer Most technicians at dealerships are not rip offs Good Luck

forget the dealer ( rip off ) go to a little shop that sells and installs stereos and alarms systems in cars ,,, there lots of them in your area im sure.. Go there looking real cute and explain your problem., tell them you just want it disconnected not repaired, ,,, wont cost much at all. Also ,, if you can find just the module and cut the red ( power ) wire that goes to it ,,, is it an after market alarm ? is there a module mounted in or under the dash that you can pull out and unplug ? Also. if there is light that shows it is activated ? ,,,if so ,,then you could try to remove some other fuses to see if the light goes out . like it could be connected to the fuse for the interior lights or cigarette lighter ,, or any other fuse. so sorry i can be more help ....

NEVER just cut wires. My son had to do the same thing to my 1990 300 ZX. Every once in a while and gaining in frequency, my car alarm would go off. My son pulled the fuse for the alarm system. I am not sure what exact fuse he pulled, but my horn does still work.
