Where can I find a good newspaper generator?

Where can I find a tight newspaper roller? NOT a newspaper log roller.?

  • When I was younger I went to a technology convention and we used a newspaper roller to roll a single sheet of newspaper into a strong rod. We then used these to build with. I have tried to look on the internet, but can only seem to find newspaper log rollers, for making loose paper logs for the fire. This was about 15 years ago and have no idea how to find this machine!! help!!

    We used to simply use a knitting needle to start rolling the paper around, starting from one corner. Done properly that gives you a tight tough cylinder. Admittedly that was for fire-lighting instead of sticks, but I don't see why a suitable length of thin rod, dowel or whatever, shouldn't serve the same purpose side-to-side or end-to-end.
