2012 olympics question?

  • Okay so I was just watching Doctor Who on Netflix, episode "Fear her", when I notice that during the episode the olympics were in London. The date IN that episode was 2012. This episode was first aired in 2006. So my question is.. How long before the olympics are on do you know where it will be? Because I am very confused as how the makers of Doctor Who had known that the 2012 olympics were going to be in London. Lucky guess? I don't think so.

    The city is usually announced 8 years in advance. We know that 2106, will be in Rio, and soon they will tell us where 2020 is going to be.

The world knew the Olympics would be in London years ago. London had to build, plan, prepare, etc. for all the events and the people. It just does not happen overnight!

They know 5 or 6 years in advance due to the preparations required to host the games. The 2014 games are in Sochi, Russia The 2016 games are in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
