Eyelids are really dry?
-
Okay my eyelids have ben really dry for the past ... like week.. but a week before the corner of my eyes were really dry, but not my eyelids, and it wouldn't burn if i wash my face there, or if i cry ,and tears go there... I put lotion on my eyelids last night, and my eyelids are still dry, and it burned when i put it on :( I do wear eyeliner/mascara a lot, but that's not on my eyelids ? eyeliner goes on my waterline, and mascara on my eyelashes, i rarley ever wear eyeshadow... and when i do, all my makeup is kind of high end, and cost a lot of money, it isn't cheap $1 stuff, so i don't think it would cause this

Here's the thing: The cost of the cosmetics don't matter when/if they are not replaced after.. ..gulp.. (you aren't going to like this..) every three months <mascara> Told you, you weren't going to like it. I know I know..Lancome Definicils and Chanel eye pencils..Benefit concealer and all of your cherished cosmetics cost you a fortune..and you love them, I know. But the bottom line is that even though the pigments are deeper and the shades are more luscious..even though the texture and consistency is superior to drug store or mart store cosmetics..they are still bacteria-laden if you have been using them for too long. (just like toothbrushes, which are supposed to be replaced ever three to five months)..so should mascara, liners, concealers, foundation, blot powder, lipsticks, etc. all of it. This goes double for cosmetic brushes, applicators, sponges, etc. Mascara 3 months Liquid Liner 6 months Shadows 6 months to (no more than) 1 year Eye Pencils 1 year (must be sharpened often) Lip Gloss 8 months to 1 1/2 year Organic Cosmetics (preservative-free) cosmetics last for a far shorter period of time/must be replaced more often than other products and can harbor more bacteria. Tweezers, eyelash curlers, and brushes can be sterilized by placing them in the top rack of a dishwasher (or using a portable steamer). But make-up has to be tossed. Bacteria will develop and each time you apply a cosmetic, you are running the risk of infection. NEVER share cosmetics with someone else, btw. If you have ever had an eye infection, and continued to use the same cosmetics, then you are re-infecting your eyes/face. It's as bad as if one were to continue to use the same contact lenses for years..(that would be bad) The bacteria that resides in and on cosmetics may cause bacterial infections, rash, acne, and worse. It is entirely possible (it IS Spring, after all) that you are simply reacting to one or more of the Spring plants or trees that are blooming all over the place. Even if you never had allergies in the past, it isn't uncommon for people to develop allergies. If you have itchy, watery, runny eyes..and when you awaken you have an eye discharge..or kind of a haze over your eyes..then you are likely having seasonal allergy symptoms. You can investigate antihistamines and over-the-counter products for allergy symptoms, along with using an eye moisturizer in the form of eye drops. That will help with the symptoms. (using a good quality, hypoallergenic eye make-up remover will help with extreme dryness..just make sure you don't react negatively to the make-up remover before you invest a fortune). You could also be reacting to one of your cosmetics (for some reason, I am extremely allergic to all Clarins products)..it's weird. Clarins cosmetics are supposedly fruit and plant extract based = they advertise how 'natural' they all are but either those plant extracts consist of poison sumac, or I'm just not meant to wear anything by Clarins. If you have a brand new cosmetic and have experienced the symptoms since the purchase..that could be it also. HOWEVER..I'm so sorry to report that even if you are experiencing seasonal allergies, or you are simply reacting to a product that you are allergic to..it doesn't change the fact that cosmetics aren't supposed to be kept indefinitely. Most upscale cosmetic manufacturers have started placing expiration dates on their products. It's a good idea to keep track of when you purchased a cosmetic and toss it after a few months. Mascara, eye liner (especially if you apply it on the inner lid), eye pencils and shadows are the most important to replace (Mascara is top of this list). Sephora is a great shop for cosmetics, applicators, face and body products, removers, fragrance, etc..they have work stations for customers to try products and they are fantastic about giving out trial and sample portions of everything they have. They will also accept a return if one has a reaction, etc (with receipt)..so check them out..in most malls across the US. That way, you can test the products without spending a lot (and being stuck with it).
