Tippmann TPX (TiPX) paintball pistol as primary?
-
Ok, so I'm getting my first paintball gun. the field offered to me is a smaller paintball field. so what I was thinking was to get a short range weapon like a Tippmann TPX as my first gun. I understand the 12 gram canisters only last for 2 clips, and 1 clip holds 8 .68 caliber balls. It would give me an understanding of how to conserve my ammunition. What do you think? << http://www.wolfpackpaintballteam.com/paintball/pictures/tippmann-tpx-pistol.jpg >>

Answer:
I've seen guys use pistols as their primaries. Depending on skill, that could work out very well. Search for videos about "akimbo tpx." Coolest in-game videos using a TPX. But pistols in paintball are not short range. Paintball guns don't adhere to the same rules as real firearms. All paintball guns shoot within a certain velocity limit, and that primarily dictates distance. The TPX works best around 280 fps, and that'll get you about 90 ft max, which in my experience is plenty. Accuracy mostly depends on quality of the paintballs. The barrel does play a part, though. Luckily, the TPX has an upgradeable barrel. I believe it uses A5 barrel threads, although not all barrels can fit through the TPX's muzzle, so there are some barrels designed solely for the TPX. You can get a spring kit that improves efficiency. So with the right spring, you can get more shots off each 12g. The TPX is also remote-ready, so you could hook it up to a tank using a remote line/coil/hose. Still, you do want to be conservative with your shots since switching clips can take time.

the gun is usually accurate, but if you want to use it as a primary there is a few things you need to know. first off if you buy this gun, it shoots hard, so you need harder paintballs, second off you would need head shots only and you need to be great at it. my suggestion is not to buy one, i had a TPX, it was a really good gun except for if it is windy, if you just use the TPX you can shoot eight paintballs, maybe 2-3 a second if you are good. the problem with this is a decent paintball gun can shoot upwards of ten to thirty per second, so if you have more than two people with regular guns against you, you're screwed. see i bought my pistol, used it and got tired of it after not even a year. DO NOT BUY A PAINTBALL PISTOL FOR PRIMARY USAGE

dont get a paintball pistol. they usually dont work, and if they do you have to be very accutate. like miss only one shot a game accurate. if you have the money and your field allows it then buy a planet eclipse etek 3 LT or an empire axe. both are great guns. or buy a spyder Xtra. it does work. especially at close range. it is very loud though and it sometimes isnt consistant, but if you are at a range of 20 feel to 30 feet, it does some work. but dont rely on a pistol as a primary gun. that is just stupid. a pistol as a secondary, that is fine. but not as a primary
