    1. Google's (Gmail) service omits the sender IP address information from all headers. Instead, only the IP address of Gmail's mail server is shown in Received: from. This means it is impossible to find a sender's true IP address in a received Gmail. 2. Microsoft's Hotmail service provides an extended header line called "X-Originating-IP" that contains the sender's actual IP address. 3. Emails from Yahoo contain the sender's IP address in the last Received: entry. IP address is normally stored in an email header delivered to the recipient along with the message. Email headers can be thought of like envelopes for postal mail. They contain the electronic equivalent of addressing and postmarks that reflect the routing of mail from source to destination. Email headers contain several lines of text. Some lines start with the words X-Originating-IP: [98.138.229.157] Authentication-Results: mta1104.mail.bf1.yahoo.com from=cc.yahoo-inc.com; domainkeys=pass (ok); from=cc.yahoo-inc.com; dkim=pass (ok) Received: from 127.0.0.1 (HELO n8-vm1.bullet.mail.ne1.yahoo.com) (98.138.229.157) X-Originating-IP: [98.138.229.209] Authentication-Results: mta1037.mail.sk1.yahoo.com from=cc.yahoo-inc.com; domainkeys=pass (ok); from=cc.yahoo-inc.com; dkim=pass (ok) Received: from 127.0.0.1 (HELO n2-vm1.bullet.mail.ne1.yahoo.com) (98.138.229.209) The above two [98.138.229.157] and [98.138.229.209] etc., are two the IP addresses of 'Y!A' On entering these IP address in the address bar of Internet Window, "not found - Yahoo Answers" would come - since the servers are not allowed to enter by outsiders. (More should not be given in writing) In some situations, multiple "Received: from" lines appear in an email header. This happens when the message passes through multiple email servers. To identify the correct IP address when multiple "Received: from" lines requires a small bit of detective work. If no faked information was inserted, the correct IP address is contained in the last "Received: from" line of the header. Examine this rule to follow while looking mails from known friends. If faked header information was inserted by a spammer, the correct IP address will be normally not be contained in the last "Received: from" line, because information faked by a sender always appears at the bottom of an email header. Note that many spammers send their emails directly rather than through Internet email servers. In these cases, all "Received: from" header lines except the first one will be faked. The first "Received: from" header line, then, will contain the sender's true IP address in this scenario.

Problem solved : 1. Log into your Yahoo! mail with your username and password. 2. Click on Inbox or whichever folder you have stored your mail. 3. Click on the Subject of the email you want to track and right-click. You should get a menu. "press- view full headers- da last one" 4. You may copy the headers and use my IP address detection script to ease the process. Or if you want to manually find the IP address, proceed to the next step. 5. Look for Received: from followed by the IP address between square brackets [ ]. That should most likely be the IP address of the sender. If there are many instances of Received: from with the IP address, select the IP address in the last pattern. If there are no instances of Received: from with the IP address, select the first IP address in X-Originating-IP..

yes,we can. The ip address is there in the header or in the message source option. But if the sender is using some king of proxy then its not possible. Finding IP address in Gmail 1.Log into your Gmail account with your user name and password. 2.Open the mail. 3.To display the email headers, 4.Click on the inverted triangle beside Reply. Select Show Original . Look for Received: from followed by the IP address between square brackets [ ]. ex Received: from [69.138.30.1] by web31804.mail.mud.yahoo.com

Yes you can get it very easily.. Just click on the Header of the email.. But tracing the IP & collecting their personal information is not that easy..

If it is originated from static (permanet) IP address. If from DHCP (Dynamic Host Control Protocol), then IP is assigned temporarily with expiry of a day or two. Eg: BSNL clients like me. If it is sent through public mail client like yahoo, hotmail, more difficult compared to email client like Outlook, eudora etc. Although it is said to be traceable not always possible in all conditions especially when it is shared. Edit: Any way check the source or headers. If u need more details, then download to a client probably more details shall be available.
