I need information to help me make (create) my own animation video .?

  • Good Morning , My dream is to make my own animation video , something like that : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-cFHeoXAw8 now , I have no idea where to start or how to start and where to look , and from where I can gain information and knowledge about this field . Plus I don't have the slightest information on how to make animation videos , I need someone to point me to the right direction and the easiest program to learn from , and perhaps tutorials to learn from . I know its alot to ask , but any help will do . my PC spec , if that would help : CPU : AMD Phenom II X4 955 @ 3.2GHZ GPU : MSI Geforce GTX 570 HDD : Adata SSD 60GB CPU Cooler : Hyper 212+ These are the important specification for my PC . By the way , I don't expect to create my own animation series or a movie that will be nominated for Oscar :D I need something simple that someone like myself could learn and create . Thank you for your Effort .

Hey... Always happy to help out a fellow mate. You have a good system. Just note that you might want at least 8gb of RAM. Just in case. Oh and 60GB of hard-disk space is definitely NOT enough. So here I go.. Animation shorts like the link you posted is created by combining different types of skill subsets in the production pipeline. There are mainly 3 different parts of a animated short production (Pre-production, production and post-production.) I will name them in a list. This is not all there is.. but it's something to start with :) 1.Concept Art ( Character design, colour schemes, layout, set design, etc.........) 2.Storyboarding 3. Modeling 4. Texturing 5. Rigging 6. Animation 7.Lighting 8. Rendering 9. Compositing 10. FINAL OUTPUT! These are the main kind of stuff you need to know before you start off. Really important. I have links below so that you can refer to them. Next is software. So I assume you are planning to do 3D animation. 3D animation is what your link shows me. 2D animation is like Disney's the Lion King and many others like that (Usually hand-drawn or flash based) For 3D animation software, you could try : Autodesk Maya Autodesk 3D studio Max Blender (FREE) These softwares are really good to start with because the industry uses them. (Usually Maya) For softwares for 2D use such as texturing and compositing, you could try: Adobe Photoshop (Texturing) The Foundry Nuke (Compositing) Adobe After Effects (Compositing) --------------------------------------… I really suggest you looking up on the different skillsets that you will need before meddling with the software. Or you could do both at the same time too. This book is really good for beginners - The VES handbook. It talks more about visual effects but it does cover alot of basics of our art. It's a tough road ahead and you will need passion. Passion, passion, passion is what will pull you through. Take care of your eyes and don't keep staring at the monitor for hours straight.
