Why is my iphone turning off on its own?

My iPhone 3GS keeps turning itself off... why?

  • okayy... can anyone please help me?? Ive had my iPhone 3GS for around 18 months (it's on a 24 month contract) but recently it keeps turning itself off My iPhone isnt jail broken and I haven't even tired to jail break it as I know it will mess it up (I jail broke my iPod touch and it broke) so I would even try.... When it turns off it normally freezers for a couple of seconds then turns off... it doesn't go off straight away it kinds of fades out... I've been to the apple store in my local town centre where they replaced the battery (as ive ran out of Apple Care) but it still does the same thing... My iPhone is running on iOS 5.1 (the latest software) It normally turns off when I'm listening to music or on apps... it can switch off with any amount of battery... Can anyone please help me??

  • Answer:

There is likely a wiring fault in the phone that is either sporadically disconnecting power to the processor, or is overloading the phone, causing a forced shut down. Being that you are out of Apple care, they only suggestion I have is to replace the phone.
