How do I send a group message in facebook?

(I'm 35+ age group)I'm new to facebook and feel STUPID asking this?

  • But it is customary tor total strangers to send you a friend invite, and is it customary to accept friend invites from strangers or to turn them down? Don't get me wrong, I like people, but I can't imagine WHY a stranger would want to befriend me...unless it's just to get more friends?? I mean, how safe am I? Like I said, I do like people and...I guess the question is- Is facebook a place to meet your friends that you already know...and THEIR friends...or is it a place just to meet BRAND NEW people, strangers? I know that some friend invites are accidental, right? But if they're not then won't the person send a message at least so you'll know WHY a total stranger wants to be your friend? This would be in the social category of 35+ age group, by the way. (The social "rules" might be a little different.)

  • Answer:

I'd say outside of the teenager/college crowd, most people use facebook to connect to friends and friends of friends, not total strangers. If you get a request from someone you don't know, just ignore it. Also, you should use privacy controls to make most things on your profile set to be visible by friends of friends - no need for random people who stumble across your profile to be able to see what you post.
