SAT SCORES, SEND TO COLLEGE?

If a college requires to see your SAT Subject Test scores, do you have to send in all of them?

  • I know some colleges require you to send in your scores if you took subject tests, but do you have to send in all of the scores you have, or can you choose? I'm asking this because I am going to be taking the Chemistry subject test next month and I don't think I will be doing too great on it, and would prefer not to show colleges. I have already taken other subject tests and would not care to send in those scores, but as for the chemistry, I'd rather not. Would I have to send the chem scores in anyway if the college requires subject tests?

  • Answer:

The vast majority of colleges allow you to pick and choose the subject tests that you want to send, although be warned that there are some very selective colleges which require that you send everything that you took. But for most of them, if you don't perform well, you don't have to send it in. Even if the colleges require them, you don't have to send them in, but if you don't and you don't fulfill the requirement through other tests, then your application is incomplete and will not even be looked at.

It depends on how many subject tests they want to see. Most schools will say they want 2 or 3, so you can choose which 2 or 3 to show them. You should go on the school's website or speak to an admissions officer to see how many scores they want and what their policy is.

Unless they specifically require you send in the Chemistry SAT Subject Test (or some science subject test and Chem was the only science one you took), no, you don't have to.
