Why do injuries hurt more in cold weather?

Why does my foot hurt?

  • back in 2005 i hurt my foot by stepping off a curb and ended up hitting a rock. the rock of course moved and forced my ankle to bend completely side ways. it hurt like heck for a hour or so then felt fine. the fact that i was on my feet all night passing out Halloween candy probably didn't help it. for some reason that i can't really remember i decided to wrap my foot up before bed. when i woke up the next morning i literally had to crawl out of bed and down the stairs. i couldn't put any pressure on my foot because it would make the pinky toe side of my foot really hurt. even though i couldn't walk for that entire day, my mom wouldn't take me to have it looked at. she figured it was just a sprain. even though i limped horribly for days afterwards. for about a year after it felt better i couldn't completely point my foot straight like in ballet for example. well the past year or so my foot has been hurting randomly. mostly when the weather gets bad so i assume its arthritis. but i'm looking for other ideas on why it hurts today. i was also looking at symptoms of different foot injuries before asking this question. the injury that had the most symptoms in common with what i felt was the broken ankle.

  • Answer:

You didn't find one reference to tight muscles in your search though, did you? Yet that's what muscles tend to do when there is some trauma to them. The medical people do refer to them as inflamed, but they are also using remedy's for an inflammation and not tight muscles. The big problem I have is trying to figure out which muscle in your foot is the one causing the pain and needs the work on it. For that reason I'm sorry but there isn't any way to help at this time.
