Can I attend a american high school when I'm not american?

Can I go to an american high school for a month?

  • hey, so when im 16 I would have finished school and I really want to go to an american high school. I understand (Please correct me if I am wrong) that in america, you stay in high school until 18. But here in England we leave school at 16. What I am planning on doing is coming over with my mum to stay with her friend so it would be the three of us. We would be staying for about a month and in that time i would attend an american high school near to wear I was staying. I would be paying for everything like flights, living etc... Could somebody tell me if I am allowed to do this? or do I have to stick with a foreign exchange program and sign up for things? If I don't have to follow the exchange program, could i just get in contact with the school and ask if i could study for a month, like a normal foreign exchange student would. Please no mean or nasty comments, i dont really know much about this stuff. thankyou :D

  • Answer:

I doubt a US high school would allow you to attend for only one month. Foreign exchange programs do not allow you to pick exactly where you would go. And they are usually for one whole semester or one school year. Not for one month
