Do animals have only one navigational system?

Gas exchange system in all animals: materials do not flow only in one direction?

  • Can someone tell me some animals in whose gas exchange (I guess respiratory) systems the materials do not flow only in one direction? I for a split-second thought that materials flowing only in one direction is a common trait of the gas exchange system in all animals, but found that this option was the wrong answer. Why?

  • Answer:

In many aquatic organisms, mainly bony cartilaginous fish, they have a system in which water and blood flow in opposite directions. The reason for this is that more gas exchange can happen because there is a constant gradient.

Many animals possess special breathing mechanisms that increase the rate if gaseous exchange between the animals and the external environment. The breathing motions of an animal essentially consist of two phases: ! The taking in of air called inspiration (or inhalation) ! The giving out of air called expiration (or exhalation) while at lower level gaseous exchange occur through diffusion one gas move inside and other move outside respiration is always two way mechanism..
