How to get a job with computer networking degree but no experience?

Is an associates degree in computer programming and a BS in an unrelated field enough to get a programming job?

• I just graduated with a 4 year degree in Political Science, but late into the degree I realized I was not interested in doing that type of work. I would like to go back to school and work on a computer programming degree, but the amount of debt I racked up for the first degree makes me not want to pay for another 4 year degree. An Associates degree is much cheaper, and obviously doesn't take as long, so my question is: WIll the fact that I have a 4 year degree on top of my associates degree help me, or will employers in the computer field look at my resume and still say "its only an associates degree"?

  It really will depend on the employer but before you panic on this I would check out a different path - this is what I did. I was in the same shoes as you with a 4 year Advertising degree. I discovered that many schools have a program called a degree completion program. These programs are designed mainly for people with a few years of college credits but no degree or for junior college grads who have their Associates degrees. I was in a different situation with a completed Bachelors degree but what they did was very creative. The program accepted the first two years of my Advertising degree as the first two years of a Computer Infomation Systems (CIS) degree. Then I finished out years 3&4 in night classes in 14 months. So in 14 months of night classes I walked out with a second major in CIS. You might nose around and see if you can find a program like that. Best wishes!
