Hi Kristen, Depending on your location, there may be a Weekend Course in your area. These are great for students who need structure or are looking for some last minute instruction from experts. If you do not have a course in your area or you learn best by studying on your own, start by taking the free test available at www.CollegeBoard.com or from your guidance counselor. Take it under timed conditions, and then score it on the College Board website. This should give you a great idea of your strengths and weaknesses so you know which areas your should target. I recommend practicing with real test questions, which you can only find in The Official SAT Study Guide (also known as "The Blue Book"). You can target the sections in which you are the weakest. Plus, the Blue Book has nearly 400 pages of test prep material (in addition to the 10 real practice tests). If you find that your strengths and weaknesses are fairly balanced across the three subject areas, then I would concentrate on writing and math. These areas are much easier to improve in such a short amount of time. Finally, before taking the real SAT, take one more practice test from the blue book. If you are not satisfied with your practice test score, do not take the SAT. Pay the small fee to postpone. Even with the new Score Choice program, most colleges will request all of your scores, and you do not want an admissions department to see the score of a test you considered "practice." At this point, evaluate all of your options--long courses, online courses, self-study books--and really dedicate yourself to achieving the score that shows your true potential. Good luck! Vicki Wood

SAT guidebooks!!!! lol guidebooks are my life for standardized assessment tests! I used SAT guidebooks for all my subject tests and everything--they help because they tecah you and also have practice tests... other than that, the SAT is generally an aptitude test (so go in with a clear mind) ;)
