Can you transfer from a state University to a private college?

Transfer from a community college to wahington state university?

  • i am going to go to Edmonds community college next year and im hoping to transfer to Washington state university ASAP. I am hoping i can transfer after a quarter, can you guys give me any tips to make this process easier. Any help is appreciated:)

You should be discussing this with your academic adviser at the community college. The obvious question here is why do you want to transfer as soon as possible? Wouldn't it make more sense to finish 2 years at the jr. college and then transfer at that point? The jr. college can provide legit college courses that will meet general education requirements towards a bachelors degree at a university. Ideally, you can save the most by finishing half the bachelors degree at the jr. college. The cost of Edmonds community college is probably far lower than Washington State U. too. If the issue is your high school GPA or test scores, then one quarter of classes won't change that issue significantly to enter Washington State. I agree with Hoo's answer on that issue too.

you are no more eligible for acceptance into a university after a quarter at community college than you are right now. you need to wrap your head around the idea that you will have to finish your 2 year/associates degree there before you will be eligible.

If you have less than 30 credits, yeah you can transfer as a freshman. But why not just stay at the community college until you finish your associate's? Unless you have a lot of money and can afford the university.... Then go for it... I've decided to go to Pierce College (CWU's partnership) and after I get my associate's go straight to Central Washington University. (Yep, I live in Washington too). This way, I would be saving a LOT of money. But do whatever you want to do. Just do well in your classes.. WASU isn't that hard to get accepted... Why didn't you go there in the first place?

Definitely see an adviser at Edmonds Community College first thing — call 425.640.1458 or go to www.edcc.edu/advising. It's also a good idea to get in touch with transfer advising at WSU and get their requirements since you know that's where you are headed. Do you know what you want to study at WSU? It's also a good idea to contact the program you'll be majoring in to see what is required to certify in your major. If you are interested in online programs, Edmonds CC has a partnership with WSU online bachelor's degree programs where you can be admitted to Edmonds CC and WSU at the same time. http://www.edcc.edu/wsu/ The college also has a dual admission agreement with Central Washington University where you can enroll in Edmonds CC and CWU at the same time. Get your bachelor's degree started, no waiting. Look forward to seeing you on campus! Registration for summer and fall quarters at Edmonds Community College starts May 23. See the class schedule at www.edcc.edu/schedule.
