someone using your credit card can you press charges after 17 years ?

Answer:
Except for a few serious crimes like homicide, the statute of limitations for both civil and criminal cases is far less than 17 years. Just why is it you want to pursue this after letting 17 years pass by?

Sounds like a parent or close family member opened credit in your name. And it sounds like they have been making payments. Or else it would have been in collections years ago. Just threaten this person. ID theft can get a person a criminal record and possible jail time. Once you threaten, they will pay the bill in full and close the account. Then, you will have to fix the age on your credit reports if the age is wrong. Have you even talked to the person doing this?
