Why do you men and feminists dislike chivalry?
-
Is it so bad to open the door for someone you love? I cook for my husband and clean up after him and I don't mind because I love him and it makes him happy. He opens the door for me and puts the toilet seat down, I never asked him to he just does. I'd rather live like that and take it for granted then not do favors for each other.

Answer:
I don't, and most feminists don't either, there's a very clear distinction between chivalry, and patronizing somebody. Feminists hate patronizing behavior, but most I know don't have any problems with chivalry.

What you are talking about is courtesy. Chivalry pretty much means men are expected to kiss women's butts; it is stuff like men paying for all the meals on dates, carrying all the groceries, holding the door for women(yes, women, not people in general), and numerous other things. That is why so many people dislike it. Chivalry is sexist, but courtesy is not.
Men? Men don't dislike chivalry. Men dislike chivalry without anything in return. Why should we be expected to risk our lives to protect someone who won't take care of us the way you do with your husband? Men don't mind chivalry at all. But chivalry becomes an entitlement complex when a woman is modern and wants equality while still expecting men to do that stuff. WOMEN have a problem with chivalry, not men.
Nothing you talked about is chivalry. Manners are not the same thing as chivalry. Chivalry is a real thing, that has literally nothing at all to do with opening doors or how you treat your wife. Chivalry is a academic term that specifically refers to the code of honor that governed the behavior of knights. What you are saying is exactly the same thing as saying, "Why do men and feminists dislike Bushido" That word does NOT mean what you think it means.

I believe that the things you described should be shared by both people, not just the woman doing certain things and the man doing certain things.. I would be offended if I was with a guy who never cooked or cleaned up after himself, because that is just plain irresponsible and rude of him to expect me to do all of those things. And I open the doors for ppl, I don't just expect men to hold doors open.. I just think that these common acts of courtesy should be shared equally.

I think chivalry is brilliant and should be still practiced today and I'm a guy. its a cultural part of european society that has been destroyed by feminists who take things beyond the regions they need to go but alas chivalry is dead ---------------------------------------… Chivalry is courtesy and it means looking after the girl you love is that wrong?

i know right? well im 13 but my grandma litterally came over yesterday and i don't know how it came up but she was like "i hate when your grandma open the door for me or pulls out my chair i yell at him" and me and my mom were confusingly laughing and we asked why and she said because "shes not helpless she can do it herself" and i told her he was just being nice and because he loves you... i don't get it(:

Feminists hated doing their part of the work, so they protested against it. Consequentially, men no longer felt obliged to do their traditional part, much to the dismay of the self-entitled brats. Holding the door, helping people with bags and the works are simply manners that know no gender.

I hold doors open for most people, sometimes I'm in a rush and don't bother but I've never had a real chance to be chivalrous. It does seem a bit patronising but also polite. :o

I personally think chivalry is just common curtsy. I often open doors for men as well women.
