How to write lyrics to a song that already has music?

• My friend sent me a song he wrote. He already has all the music to it, like guitar, bass, and drums. I'm trying to write lyrics to it but I'm having some difficulty. I'm used to writing lyrics THEN music. So how can I write lyrics to a song that already has music to it? And can I also have some suggestions of topics for the song? Thank you. :D

  damn, sounds like you should form a band. -it's like anything else, you pair the vocals near the sound of the song. usually if the lead guitarist plays a high note, the singer follows relatively close. make room for guitar solos if they are added in there. -the topic? can you send me the song in an mp3?
