Icons on my desktop monitor are too large, but normal on laptop screen?
-
I have an HP laptop with Vista, but I normally use it with my old Gateway desktop monitor. I have had no problems for three years, but last night, I woke the computer up from sleep mode and the icons on the Gateway monitor were huge and the start button and task bar icons are not visible. The display of the laptop monitor is normal. I've Googled and tried everything I've found to try. Any help would be appreciated.

Answer:
Try adjusting the resolution for the external monitor. You can do this by right clicking the desktop and going to graphics properties. Depending on your graphics card there should be an option to set up external display. If there is a detect displays option press it and see what happens. If that doesn't work try changing the screen resolution manually.
