How can I access my Hotmail account on my laptop?

My employer wants access to my hotmail?

  • My U.K employer has accused me of foul play and wants access to my hotmail account, by getting my written permission to contact hotmail for hotmail to hand over e-mai activity on certain days. Are they allowed to do this? what happens if i refuse? How long does this take? they also want to scan my personal laptop? I have done nothing wrong but they have already invaded my privcay by reading all my personal work emails, and photos and lync conversations and checked my work phone bill and txts. please advise

  • Answer:

If they have proof you did something wrong, they should just fire you. If you give up your rights and supply them stuff just out of fear of losing your job then you will continue to do what they say and they will know it. Tell them to either show you the evidence they have against you, fire you or get off your back. Then wait.

Do you want to keep your job? Then cooperate with the investigation. They can ASK anything they like. You can refuse but they will likely use that as an excuse to fire you. (And they did NOT "invade your privacy" by reading your "personal work emails." You don't HAVE "personal" work emails. Those emails belong to your employer. You don't have the right to, or expectation of privacy with regard to anything work related.

In the US Hot Mail, Yahoo, etc does not make us Agree we have to give that right to our employers. If your using it for personal use while on the job breaking the work laws of the company, you can be fired for it.

If you have done nothing wrong and have nothing to hide than why are you being defensive? Employers have ways of seeing what you do legally. Now you can get fired for what you say on.facebook or other social websites. Its their right and if it was illegal, they wouldnt have a background check done before employing you.

Do NOT listen to the answer from Jacob! Regardless of whether or not you have nothing to hide this is still a serious attempt to invade your privacy. Refuse!
