Would the military pay for medical school if i wanted to study abroad?

Hello Uziel, No. The military does not pay to train you to be a medical doctor. You have to become a medical doctor first; THEN, after you get your license to practice medicine you can approach the military and see "if" they need more medical doctors. It takes about 12 years of study to do 8 years of college and 4 years more of internship and residency to become a doctor. You will be about 30 - 32 years old by then. The military is not going to invest to train someone to become a doctor now knowing "if" the person can actually complete 12 years of study to become a doctor. Doctors are Direct Commissioned into the military services. They don't enlist or go through regular "basic training." However, if you are thinking about "enlisting" and becoming a "medic" in the military then the military does have medic training technical schools. Of course, there is usually no "guarantee" that a person can become a medic. The NEEDS of the Miltiary come before the WANTS of the Individual when it comes to job assignments. You are going to have to borrow over $600,000 + to pay for your education and living support. I have no idea why you want to go to England to study medicine. USA has some of the finest medical colleges in the world! You are a freshman? School is almost out for the summer. Go to amazon dot com and order a used copy of Gray's Anatomy text book and begin to use this summer to study the systems of the body. Also order a used copy of Steadman's Medical Dictionary. You ultimately will be responsible to know all the terms in the dictionary and also the systems of the body. So, while you are in high school - you can save yourself valuable time and mental energy by using your summer months and winter/spring vacation days to study medicine. You don't have the time to waste going to enlisted basic training and technical school for almost 1 year after high school if you join the National Guard. You need to get as close to a 4.0 GPA and very high ACT or SAT scores to get into medical school. Don't waste a year in the military that you could have already compelted 1 year of college towards becoming a doctor.

What nation interests you? If you are asking about the u.s. military, it has its own medical school. You can go to medical school on a scholarship and then serve the military, or you can go the the military medical school, but you cannot be a military doctor first and then go to medical school.

To be a military doctor you must have graduated college and med school. You can join the national guard and they will pay all of your first four years of college. Then you can take loans to go through med school. But i would to civilian doctor first to pay of the med school . Some hospitals might have assistance in paying that off.
