How to become an architecture?

With a Bachelors Degree in history and theory of architecture can i become an Architect?

  • I got an alternate offer from Carleton University for BA in Arts Honours: History and Theory of Architecture. Can i become an architect with this degree?

  • Answer:

Definitely not. That program is about how buildings impact society, and the meanings we impart to them. Architecture requires intensive mathematics and design skills. It's just as much about making attractive buildings as it as about making buildings that will withstand the forces applied to them in the real world. Edit: Here's some advice to go by in the future. Whenever a major has the words "Theory" or "Studies" in it, that means it will not teach you any practical skills. That means it will teach you *about* things, but it won't teach you how to *do* things. Architecture is very much a practical skill; you have to be able to *do* things, like have the artistic vision to design a buildings, and the mathematical/physics acuity to make sure it won't fall down.

No, to be a licensed architect you need to either have a B. Arch or M. Arch, with a B.S or B.D.A degree in architecture you can still work as an architect but not independently on projects
