What are some good dual credit classes to take?

I will be taking dual-credit classes in the summer. How do I decide what class I should take?

  • I want to major in Chemistry, since that is my favorite class. Yet, the most difficult class for me has always been History. Should I take a class that interests me, such as Chemistry so it can look good on my resume? Or should I take the most boring class, American Literature, so I won't have to take it in college and since dual-credit classes are a lot more easier than actual college?

  • Answer:

Dual credit means you're taking an actual college course. It's going to be the same amount of work and material covered as a course you'll take later in college, but since it's over the summer, you're doing that work in 6 weeks instead of 4 months. College summer classes are extremely demanding. Don't take anything you don't know you can get an A in, since anything lower will look bad when applying to colleges. I'm teaching a summer class at my college; it meets for 3 hours every day, and I have to give 3+ hours of homework a night and weekly exams just to get through the material.

Depends on what kind of college you plan to be attending. If you go to a school that offers a liberal arts program, I'd take the history, because you will have to take a history class in order to graduate. However, many colleges do not require you to take classes outside of your major - if you go to one of those, take the Chemistry to get yourself ahead of the game.
