How much is a good engineer paid approximately?
-
currently thinking about career paths and wondering how much a successful engineer is paid anually? Could you put (if you know it) the type of engineer (e.g mechanical, aeronautical) next to the salary? thanks

Answer:
Not sure about the UK, but in US dollars, depending on reputation, network, area of industry and level of skill, somewhere between 60-80K. When there is a tech boom, it may go into six figures, and when there is a bust, you might find a lot of engineers taking much lower-paying work as drafters or webmasters. Sadly, there is often LESS security with age. It is often a "young" industry, so it is probably a good idea to save a lot in a career, as you may end up getting transitioned out of the tech department before 50.
