How do I make a CV to apply for a job?

How to make a CV for a care job with no experience?

  • I want to start applying for care assistant jobs but I don't know how to tailor my CV to that specific kind of work when I have zero experience. I have been to college to study tourism and I worked at a kitchen/bathroom showroom now I want to do this but dunno how to go about it

The only way I know in these such cases is to use your Covering Letter to explain why you want to work in the new career. With the CV just think of it as a history of your schooling and working life. Just a factual list really. Therefore have a look at writing a very persuasive letter. If you have any 'transferable skills' do highlight them. More importantly though, you want to show the reader your care work enthusiasm. Hope I've helped...

Try to use the modules you've studied and possibly any care work you've done at home with nieces and nephews. Your CV should be focused on the job you want and if you don't have any direct paid experience use anything you've done during your training / education or in your personal time. The site I run www.cv-genie.co.uk allows you to pick the areas of a CV you want to include as well as providing descriptions for the education or training you've done. Since you can download the Word file you can always amend the CV independently outside of the system and completely tailor it to your requirements.

I agree with PR - you don't say what sort of care worker you have in mind ie children or the elderly etc. - anyway, you should have acquired many skills that are useful already for that type of setting - here are a few that immediately come to mind: ability to work at an further education (academic) level and analyse information understand the importance of good quality customer care ability to follow instructions and proprocedures a retail environment understand the importance of good communication - written and verbal self awareness and an understanding of the importance of feedback Hope that helps - just as a PS make sure its written in good English - spelling/grammar etc. Good luck!
