How to get a job in a corner shop?

  • Hi yeah I want a job I dont really care about how much pay I get im 14 and I just want to ask how to aplly for a job in a croner shop because ive never had a job and like, what do I do just go up to the guy at the counter and ask for any vacancies? help me out please? Also am I too young I live in the UK. and im in yr 10. Thanks for the help.

  • Answer:

I would try and get a paper-round at one as you probably won't be old enough to work in one, you would have to be 18+ because of the tobacco laws. Then once they see you as trustworthy then you can ask for a job behind the counter. Thats what i would do in that situation anyways.

Not sure where you are but these days most "corner shops" in London are owned by Asians who normally have family members helping out in the shop

Sir Jam

You're too young. Virtually no employers will hire children under school leaving age - paper round or chores for neighbours are your only realistic options.

They'd be breaking the law if they gave you a job Most corner shops are family businesses anyway, and have family members as workers Look for a paper round or similar, which IS legal at your age
