I'm trying to recover my stolen MacBook. How do I reverse search for an IP address?

• On May 2, 2012, between 4:25PM and 7:22PM in Atlanta, GA, my MacBook Pro was stolen from my car, along with several other personal belongings. Whoever stole my things accessed my Facebook and Tumblr using my computer and uploaded private and personal pictures to my dashboard and other pages, which I've since removed, however, I left up one single non-vulgar image on Tumblr and between 7:25PM and 7:33PM, they commented on posts that friends were making on Facebook, questioning the unusual behavior and I left those comments on my profile. After contacting law enforcement, I quickly called a friend and had him login and change my Facebook password. Upon doing so, I received an email from Facebook Support informing me of the change in password, and an IP address was provided. Is there anyway possible that an IP address can be located and provided using the comments in the posts on my wall or the image on Tumblr so that I can use the information to help the police in their investigation and to secure a search warrant which will hopefully result in the return of my belongings. Any assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated and, as I said, could potentially lead to the safe recovery of my belongings. Thanks.

  There is one problem related to IP addresses, If they are mobile, using the wireless and moving around that IP address always changes. If you have all your papers that came with your computer, you con go the the link below and report is as stolen. This will make it show up as a stolen computer all over the Internet and may help you, but don't have high expecations of this web site. It's just if they sell it, it makes it easier to track down.
