How do you do a backflip?

How hard is it really to do a standing backflip?

  • I know how to do backflips and fronflips into water and i know that doing it on land will probably be alot harder. I have never done anything like gymnastics. I am 15 yrs old. I am a little taller than the average 15 yr old and my body is naturally big (not in a fat way). Im not trying to brag but i have raced my friends for fun a few times and i am faster and stronger :) but its not like im ripped with a six pack i actually have a protective layer around my mucles lol. So i dont think that im handycapped by the extra weight im carrying around. I think that if i focus i can give a standing backflip a good shot without chickening out. So back to the question is it hard to do a standing backflip? and the way i have described myself to you do you think i can do a backflip? Im only asking because i dont want to try and fall on my head and break my neck but its worth the risk because it would be so sick if i could do them!! :D

  • Answer:

Well I am a gymnast in level 6, and I just got my back tuck (back flip) off of beam. Which is like doing it into the pool. And I am really bad at standing back tucks. I think you would be strong enough, but it is way different from doing it off of something. You have to jump up, instead of jumping back. You also have to tuck in your knees and be able to flip enough without landing on your knees. I, in my opinion, think its hard. But if you do try it, and want to get better at it, practice makes perfect!
