How can I get my Tecumseh engine to get more power and speed?

Which engine wuld be cheaper and easier to get the power?

  • Im debating on building up the 3.8 engine in my 1995 mustang. id be aiming for 500lb of torque at 4grand rpm. the engine has 184xxx miles on it though. if i dont build up the 3.8 i want to get a forged irion 5.8 block and build it for 700-800lb of torque at 4grand rpm. which wuld be better/cheaper/more efficent/easier?

  • Answer:

You can build a mustang out to the GT 500 specs and have a hella sleeper, but lets go cheap. I would look into the 5.8, but DO NOT cut the 5.0 short. Either one should be available at any salvage because they were even used in trucks and Broncos. Check out northernautoparts.com for the re-build kit. You wont find one cheaper or more complete any where else. Go to the Mustang sites on line and read about them. Talk to people who run the Pony, they could tell you more about them than a Chevy man. Good luck and do not give up. ****, one more thing, its cheaper to buy one than build one, but wheres the fun in that. Keep the rubber side down and good luck

you DO realize that all engine blocks are Forged, right? So are all pistons, camshafts, crankshafts... It is your choice and your wallet.

I ONLY can be wrong at worst
