If in a diagram, the velocity vector points up and the electric field vector points towards the right, then...?
-
what direction would the magnetic field vector point? in or out of the page?
-
Answer:
Is this regarding electromagnetic wave propagation? E x B = V The magnetic field points into the page. It's kind of hard to see with the right hand rule. If you can hold your right hand with your thumb up and your palm facing away from you, your thump points in the direction of velocity, whereas your fingers point to the right (E), now close your fingers 90 degrees towards your palm. This is the direction of the magnetic field, away from you. I hope I understood the problem right.
