China vs. The Philippines: Quality wise?

  • Why are chinese products so very cheap but very low in quality? Most of their products are imitations? Do we have imitations too here in the Philippines? To be honest i've never seen one. Filipinos are very keen when it comes to product quality control. Does the principle of quality ever applied in china? Well i know Changhong is a quality product from china. Can you name some more quality product of china that is being sold here in ph.? Quality wise: filipinos or chinese? -- Via MebApp.com

  • Answer:

do we have imitations too? yes of course....pirated DVD's, the mere fact that there are tagalog movies in dvd copies says a lot about piracy. Scents - perfumes and colognes that are called "CK", "Tommy" etc. are concocted here. The dishwashing soap joy, the shampoo Head and shoulders, are being sold in divisoria, for a much lower cost, they even have the sellers wearing promodizers's shirts and vest to show they are legit, 6 bottles of head and shoulders for only 200 pesos, i tested one at home and no bubble came out. but the texture, color and scent are so close. quality products from china? lets see, the light bulb in your house, if its GE(yes, you are reading correctly, General Electric), Philips, Omni, Starlux, Royu or Firefly, then its made in China. Common brand names in digital cameras and gadgets like Sony, Toshiba, Panasonic, are made in China. clothing-Giordano, Lee, Bench, Adidas, Converse, even some Nike's are made in China. cellphones-where do you think they are made? and the ever popular ipod, iphone, and ipad, they are all made in China. now its obvious what you are pointing out, seriously though, if filipinos can make a better product with better quality for a cheaper and lower minimum wage than china, then we would already be a rich country.

China also produces high quality items of their own which most people don't know.. also, some luxury items from all over the world are being commissioned to be made in China.. may it be electronics or pricey bags. Indeed, the philippines produces quality things.. but of what? floor mats and wood-carved decorations.

I didn't know they were or are. I know Japanese products used to be considered cheap but look now. Maybe Chinese products are improving where they are competitive. You will need to compare apples to apples.

Quality? China has the largest reserves of rare earth minerals. They are used to produce everything from military technology, cellphones, tvs, computers, NASA chips and everything you require in your everyday life such as iPhones. China produced cheap quality and high grade quality. It depends on what you need. If you require something temporary to be used for a few days/weeks and then be thrown away, you buy the cheap option to save money. If you want the high quality things, you will upgrade your budget to buy things that is a bit more expensive, while still being relatively cheap. Most of Apple Incs products are all Made in China such as Mac Books, iPhones etc..Samsung, Nokia phones, Mobile phones, clothes, spoons, carpet, DVD player, shoes, watches, jewlery, cooking pan, you name it! It all depends. China is the largest producer of steel, and also the largest producer of rare earth minerals. 97% of all rare earth minerals are produced in China which are required to make all military technology and normal home technology. Look under your laptop and its probably Made in China. Chinese brands such as Lenovo are popular in China and China also has the worlds 2nd largest producer of high quality telecommunication equipments and makers of mobile phones called Huwei. It's known world wide. They recently tried to buy out Americas 3Leaf company but it got vetoed by congress. So it really depends on the person. You can either choose to spend $2 on a cheap *** watch, or spend $20 on a better quality watch that will last you a few years. They all Made in China weather you like it or not.

First consider the item. Is it "Made in China" or "Made in The Philippines". You decide in your own mind which country has the best quality control and I bet you choose China. You know why. You have expressed the reason so many times here.

Quality is very subjective. Each customer has his or her preferences. If China can build a space craft, powerful rocket, super-computer etc all by itself, what quality problem can China cannot be solve. However, if the product is of high standard, it will cost more and resulted in lower business. So Quality = Market Needs. How businessmen make money if the original specified product is too expensive to be sold in Philippines, so they order the lower specification type. Can't really think of any good quality products from Philippines, local-assembled car is of so low quality cannot be sold to other countries!

Why are their products so cheap? Let us make a comparison then. Lets take a simple siopao or a dumpling. We use more often than not, pork and egg as filling, whilst the Chinese use old carton boxes soaked in coca cola! I won't drink to that. Eeww!!

advanced countrys have no problem even they don't use cheap products which is made in china. but philippines? and other poor economy countrys? they will be bankrupted in several years.

Quality wise if its Philippines V China I would say Toshiba! I have always bought Toshiba laptops on a regular basis (normally 1 a year). When the factory moved from the Philippines the quality declined drastically. My current 2 Toshiba laptops will be the last Toshiba's I ever buy for that reason because the made in China ones are terrible in comparison. China is losing its grip slowly though problem with the Philippines is too many of your leaders are more Chinese and act out of self interest than help the nation. They are swapping access to China for companies like SM for the death of the small business owner in the Philippines by flooding the country with cheap goods. Imitations in the Philippines are everywhere although high tech stuff such as iPhones and other copies all come from China. If the Philippines like all other countries come up with something new and innovative it won't be long until China copies and steals it. Even the woven bags, rattan and other goods the Philippines produce China is doing it cheaper already. What is interesting though is attitudes are changing the U.S. for example is already looking at 30% of its production in China returning to the U.S. because the economy balances have changed allowing it to be produced cheaper at home than importing. Nothing wrong with the Philippines doing the same. Biggest Filipino export mind is people and even this China is trying to imitate but will it last? The Filipino workers of Asia have been there a long time and earned their positions not sure if China can steal this one.
